Dear Pension Fund Members:

Since our last update as of December 2008 we have lost the following firefighters or widows:

03/09/2009N/AN/A

Please contact Eric Pederson with the benevolent fund at 922-4332 with any questions you have regarding payments to the benevolent fund.

Our pension bill has been introduced in the 2009 legislature. HB2829 has passed through the House and has moved on to the Senate. As we mentioned in our December update, this bill will provide more flexibility with COLA's and also strengthens our investment section. Going forward, this should prove to be a positive for the pension plan. We appreciate the support from the Austin Retired Fire Fighters Association (ARFFA), Local 975, and the City of Austin who provided letters of support as well as a city resolution supporting our bill.

Mark your calendars for the 2009 Retirement BBQ to be held May 12, 2009 at 6:00 PM. This year the BBQ will be held at a new location. It will be at the Ben Hur Shriners Bldg. at 7811 Rockwood Lane. They are located east of Mopac (Loop 1), just south of Anderson Lane before you get to Northcross Mall. An invitation flier is enclosed listing the retirees to be recognized. There is also a map for your convenience. ARFFA will have a booth and banner there to have a chance to visit with everyone.

We hope to see you at the BBQ! If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Sincerely,

William E. Stefka
